CRB (credit reference bureau) a body in Kenya tasked with collecting financial information from all registered financial institutions. Maybe you are in a fix where you need money urgently and you have to go to an app or financial institution and told you are not clear to borrow from them.But you may be wondering how and where do they get this information from,its the CRB .So how do you know your status from the CRB and possibly improve your credit score

There are three  bodies you can use to check your status

  • Metropol
  • Transunion
  • Agency
1.Metropol

You can head to the Metropol website or app also you can dial *433# all are convenient ways to check their status more quickly.

Offline-Accessing your credit status  offline with Metropol

  • The first step is to Pay Ksh. 50 as registration fees through 220388 as your Pay Bill number.
  • Enter your ID number as the account number.
  • You will receive an SMS containing secret codes details, a reference number, and a link. Dial *433# and enter your PIN, and you will receive your details via SMS.

Metropol mobile app-Install  the app  from Google play store and follow  the steps given

Metropol website -Access your browser and head on to Metropol main website  where you will be prompted to register and follow the step elaborated in the website

NB:

  • Credit report: You will be required to pay Ksh. 250 to get the report.
  • Finding out who blacklisted you:  Ksh. 50 is to be paid to know the lender who forwarded your name to the CRB.
  • Clearance certificate: After clearing your defaulted loans, you’ll be issued a clearance certificate. A Ksh. 2,200 processing fee is charged.
2.TransUnion and Agency

Both of these bodies use the same methods

Offline:

  • Send  your full name to 21272
  • Enter your ID number
  • Choose your credit status.

If  successful, you should receive  a negative(means you are blacklisted) or positive rating(you have a good credit score)

Online– You can access the  Transunion  and Agency mobile apps and  Transunion and Agency  sites   where you will be guided on the procedures on how to check your  status and receive your  clearance certificate
